Ingredient

  • Salted butter
  • 2 slices sourdough bread

  • 3 slices Pepper-jack cheese

  • 3 slices bacon

  • 3 slices tomato

  • 2 homemade chicken tenders

  • Ranch dressing or Honey Mustard, for dipping

  • Homemade (Baked) Chicken Tenders
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 3 large egg whites

  • 1 tablespoon water

  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

  • Cooking spray

  • 3 boneless chicken breasts, cut into 3/4 inch wide strips

Instrucion

  • Salted butter
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the side of the bread that has not been buttered, assemble your sandwich by layering 1 1/2 slices of cheese, tomatoes, bacon, chicken tenders, and the remaining 1 1/2 slices of cheese.
  • Cook the sandwich on both sides in a small frying pan over medium heat until the bread is toasted and the cheese has melted, turning the sandwich over once.
  • Homemade (Baked) Chicken Tenders
  • Turn the temperature in the oven up to 475 degrees. Panko and canola oil should be mixed together in a large frying pan. Toast the breadcrumbs for 8 to 10 minutes over a heat setting of medium-high, until they reach a golden brown color. Make sure to give it a good stir on a regular basis to prevent it from burning! Place the crumbs in a dish that is more on the shallow side and set aside.
  • Flour, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne pepper should be mixed together in a separate, shallow dish before being set aside.
  • Egg whites, water, Dijon mustard, and thyme should be mixed together in a small bowl using a whisk.
  • Arrange a cooling rack made of wire on top of a baking sheet, then lightly coat the rack with cooking spray.
  • Shake off any excess flour, egg mixture, or breadcrumbs before moving on to the next step. Begin with one chicken strip and work your way down the strip. Place the chicken that has been coated on the rack that has been prepared, and repeat with the remaining strips.
  • When all of the chicken has been breaded, give the tops of the pieces a light coating of cooking spray. Bake for 12–16 minutes in an oven that has been preheated, then serve immediately.

Note

  • It’s easy to make and can be served in a variety of ways. You can throw it on top of a salad or serve it as a sandwich. This recipe is so versatile that you’ll be able to find a way to use it in any meal plan.
